For Patients
Welcome to the Northern California Functional Restoration Program.
If you’re unsure about what "Functional Restoration" means, you’re not alone.
The Northern California Functional Restoration Medical Program is an interdisciplinary program consisting of education, psychology, behavioral medicine, medications, physical therapy, nutrition, to treat your unique pain problem.
Many chronic pain sufferers have been through extensive treatments and therapy often with no improvement in function, increased pain, despair, and disability. Weight gain, frustration, anxiety, and anger often result. Once pain has reached a “chronic” level (pain that lasts over the expected time for injury recovery of 3-6 months) it can involve the injured body part, other areas of the body and parts of your brain as well.
Chronic pain can cause alterations in family dynamics, cause you to be unable to work, exercise, or participate in previous pleasurable activities .
Research has shown that Interdisciplinary Functional Restoration Programs can help you to rebuild, reconnect and restore your life. Some of the treatment modalities that may be prescribed by our team include adjusting medications, behavioral modification therapy, training in coping skills, biofeedback therapy and education, physical therapy, exercise therapy, education regarding injury and disease processes, nutrition, medications, and yoga, resume writing and interviewing skills. Success in our program is highly dependent on your participation and motivation to succeed. Daily participation is required.
Cure of your chronic pain in most cases in not our goal. Our goal is to reduce the impact pain has had on your life. The Northern California Functional Restoration Program will give you the tools to help you manage your pain more effectively, giving you a more meaningful, fulfilling and productive life.
The first step needed to get in our program is a physician recommendation; once this occurs we will contact your insurance carrier and do our best to have your initial evaluation approved (download referral form). We look forward to hearing from you and welcome any additional questions you have regarding our program. Please feel free to contact us.
