Our Services

Medical Treatment and Intervention: Treatment provided by Dr. Jamasbi, Dr. Morley and Dr. Pinckney will be based on initial individual evaluations and ongoing evaluations each week throughout the program. Our physicians will adjust medications as needed; provide educational lectures, and direct patient care with input from other team members, patients, and primary treating physicians. Upon specific request and approval, our physician can assume the role of primary care physician for patients if requested.

Behavioral Medicine and Health Psychology: Dr. Ghannam is a licensed psychologist with a strong background in the behavioral and psychological aspects of chronic pain syndrome. Behavioral Medicine and Health Psychology recognizes that there is often a strong psychological and behavioral component of chronic pain. Pain is often compounded by frustration, anxiety, anger, and isolation. Behavioral Medicine and Health Psychology use many techniques including but not limited to teaching coping skills, biofeedback, psychotherapy, guided imagery, and meditation. Dr. Ghannam and the team will develop a plan for each patient focusing on the optimal treatment to rebuild, reconnect and restore a lifestyle centered on wellness as opposed to disability.

Physical Restoration: A physical therapy program will be established for each patient based on a thorough physical evaluation by our physical therapist and physicians. Restoring and maintaining function will minimize stiffness, aches and atrophy that can result from a sedentary lifestyle. Typically when function improves, pain also improves. Patients will be introduced to educational programs, therapeutic spine stabilization, stretching and exercise programs designed to maintain and improve strength, cardiovascular and aerobic conditioning, balance and flexibility. Patients will be provided with education and training to allow them to continue an exercise program once graduated from our program.

Educational Programs: Our interdisciplinary team will provide a wide variety of educational topics, including but not limited to anatomy and physiology, mechanisms of injury, body mechanics, proper nutrition, effects of exercise, pain and sleep, and coping skills. Our physicians will discuss at least one medical topic a week accentuated by other team members and outside sources. Dr. Ghannam, Ms. Bender, and Ms. Kimball will routinely provide educational programs to assist patients to modulate pain responses, reintegrate into society and regain an overall healthy and productive lifestyle.

Nutritional Counseling: Many chronic pain suffers have developed poor eating habits due to lack of interest, and a lack of physical stamina to shop and cook. Nutritional assessments and educational programs focusing on healthy eating habits are an essential part of our program. Healthy lunches will be provided to patients daily. Patients will learn which foods affect inflammation, weight, strength, energy, and overall health. Community resources will be identified for those who could benefit from them, providing continuity once the program is over.
